I thought I would share my brother David and his wife Shahida’s recent wedding photo along with a few words…
Life is funny. Of course I’ve known him my whole life and it is for this reason I know so much about him. I love my brother. In fact, when it comes to brothers, he’s the best big brother a little brother could have. It’s funny though… we are opposites.
He’s an intellect… left brained analytical. Spock. He thinks before he does most anything. But that hasn’t protected him from the insane curveball’s life can throw at us. My brother has what is known in behavioral terms as a preserving orientation. Information is protected and preserved; it’s sacred.
So he’s quiet. A thinker. It seems most of his life, when it comes to partnerships though, he’s ended up with the two of clubs rather than the ace of spades. That’s tough. It’s even tougher when you’re a man of honor like my brother.
Finding “love” has been sort of like searching for the theory of everything. You understand the pieces, but you can’t find the parts. Although I must say… something funny happened on a lonely New Years evening a few years back…
It was the night I think he decided to call off the search. He had just laid down a hefty some at a matchmaking agency and handed his capacity for finding love over to the experts. After all, they know the science.
That’s when it happened. I think that’s when it happens for all of us. When we stop searching. Whether it’s love, our assumed destiny, or our dream job, we quit our best efforts and free fall back to earth.
He was approached by a goddess and asked to take a picture of her and her friend. He obliged of course as this is his way. What he didn’t know was love had just found him. It’s interesting. As soon as he called off the search it seems he ended up on loves most wanted list.
The rest is history as they say. I’m tempted to say, “Dave, you finally found it,” but I would be wrong. Love found “him.” Like rescued puppy videos on Facebook, it has been amazing to watch. And now this photo…
This is what it looks like when love honors you. When it rewards you for not hating the world or deciding to believe it doesn’t exist. Well done Dave. Well done. The theory of everything found you. Thank you Shahida, you are the eighth wonder of the world. We are all blessed to have you as part of our family.
